The Department of Justice (DOJ) announced the conviction of a 26-year-old man accused of threatening to injure Congressman Randy Fine (R-Fla.) and his family.
Edwin Guerrero, a Massachusetts native, was sentenced to 9 years and 11 months in federal prison and a $15,000 fine after pleading guilty to making interstate threats to injure the person of another, according to U.S. Attorney Gregory W. Kehoe.
“Threats of intimidation or harm against public officials or anyone for their political or religious beliefs will not be tolerated,” Kahoe stated. “We will take such acts seriously and prosecute these offenders to the fullest extent of the law.”

The Threats To Rep. Fine & His Family
According to court documents, from Aug. 10 to Aug. 15, 2024, Guerrero used his social media account to make a series of antisemitic posts and threats directed at Rep. Fine.
“Looks like I’m taking a little field trip to Brevard County, Florida. Let’s play a game [Randy Fine],” Guerrero reportedly wrote while outside the U.S.
“[Randy Fine], when he steps out in Florida don't worry your 2 little precious Jewish boys will suffer the same fate,” Guerrero wrote in another post with a graphic image of a dead man attached.
Investigators Gain Confession
Amid the criminal investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the FL Department of Law Enforcement (FLDLE) discovered that Guerrero was in Spain when he made the threats.
Upon his return to the U.S., Guerrero was interviewed by authorities, during which he admitted to using his social media account to issue the posts.
“Threaten violence against an elected official in Florida or their family, and your life as you know it is over,” Congressman Fine affirmed.
Previous Threats Made To Rep. Fine
Guerrero’s conviction comes less than a month after prosecutors arrested an Ohio man for allegedly threatening to kill Rep. Fine and his family via e-mail.
This recent incident reportedly marks the fifth time that an individual has been arrested for making death threats against Congressman Fine in the last decade.
