Several Florida lawmakers and Trump administration officials took to social media to celebrate the life of American conservative political activist Charlie Kirk amid the first anniversary of his death.
The co-founder of the conservative student organization Turning Point USA was shot and killed on Sept. 10, 2025, during an event at Utah Valley University.
White House Honors Kirk
“One year ago, we tragically lost a fearless patriot. A champion for freedom and for our country,” the White House wrote on X. “Charlie Kirk changed the course of American history. His courage, conviction, and love of country will never be forgotten.”
Rubio Praises Kirk's Gift
Secretary of State Marco Rubio also chimed in, praising the late debater for his impact.
“Charlie Kirk had a unique gift for articulating the good – the goodness of family, faith, and America,” Secretary Rubio wrote.
“We’ll honor his legacy by building great things and holding to account the enemies of civilization,” Secretary Rubio affirmed.

Anna Paulina Luna Commemorates Kirk's Accomplishments
Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.), a close friend of Kirk’s, commemorated the late activist’s accomplishments, writing: “We miss you Charlie.”

Kat Cammack Issues Takeaways of Kirk's Legacy
“[Charlie Kirk] built his career on asking the hard questions others were too afraid to raise, and in doing so, he inspired a generation of young Americans to engage in the political process rather than tune it out,” Rep. Kat Cammack (R-Fla.) wrote on X. “Charlie’s legacy is a challenge to all of us: to debate with courage, to listen even when it’s uncomfortable, and to never let fear silence honest conversation.”
Florida's Effort To Honor Kirk
After Kirk’s death, Florida has strongly supported efforts to recognize the late activist’s legacy.
Congressman Jimmy Patronis (R-Fla.) previously sought to honor Kirk with a National Day of Remembrance.
The New College of Florida in Sarasota also commissioned a statue in Kirk’s memory, privately funded by community leaders.
Additionally, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed a bill renaming a portion of Southwest 107th Avenue (State Road 90) between 8th Street and 24th Street alongside Florida International University as “Charlie Kirk Memorial Avenue.”
