The hotly contentious Republican congressional primary election in Florida's 22nd District appears to be over before voters hit the polls on Election Day. According to a weekend poll conducted by Catalyst Research, Trump Conservative and U.S. Marine Veteran Casey Askar has taken a commanding lead over the field of Republican congressional candidates.
The poll, which surveyed "likely voters" and had +/- 6.6% margin of error in the congressional district, has Askar leading the field by 10 percentage points.
The tidal wave of negative campaigning appears to have hit Carbonara the worst.
The poll shows embattled Michael Carbonara significantly dropping to 13.8%, followed by David Burck at 13.6%, and Belinda Keiser at 11.8%.
Askar's rise shows a steady climb over the past several weeks as other public opinion polls have recently mirrored these same results going into election day.
An FBI complaint alleging potential cybercrimes was filed against Carbonara. Carbonara has also been accused of posting a sexually explicit website against Keiser and trying to make it look as if Askar was responsible for its creation. READ MORE
