The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) is ragging on Representative Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) for voting against amendments prohibiting taxpayer-funded gender reassignment surgeries and allowing biological males to compete in women and girls' sports.
The Context
The amendments are part of the Fiscal Year 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The NDAA's 19th amendment prohibits the allowance of gender-affirming care, including reassignment surgeries, under TRICARE, while the 20th amendment prohibits biological males from competing in women and girls' sports at Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) schools.
Rep. Moskowitz voted against both.
Notably, Rep. Moskowitz has previously voted against similar bills, including the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act in 2023 and 2025, while voting against measures prohibiting taxpayer-funded sex reassignment surgery such as the Do No Harm in Medicaid Act.
NRCC's Response
"Democrat Jared Moskowitz just made it crystal clear: he is for they/them, not for Floridians," said NRCC spokeswoman Maureen O'Toole. "Moskowitz couldn't be more out of touch with Florida families."
This is not the first time the NRCC has gone after Moskowitz, as January saw him subject to attacks that he is "anti-law enforcement" despite voting in favor of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids against criminal illegal aliens, citing his comments on the fatal ICE shooting that killed Renee Good in Minneapolis.
In February, the NRCC put out a Valentine's Day ad mocking his sneaker hobby and vote in favor of raising taxes.
Moskowitz condemned the ad, as he took the day to commemorate the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas shooting that occurred that same day in 2018, writing, "I do like sneakers, but I don't celebrate Valentine's Day anymore, and haven't for 8 years now, since 17 people were killed at my high school -- Marjory Stoneman Douglas in my hometown of Parkland on Valentine's Day. The NRCC would know that if they knew the district. But they don't. That's why we don't elect special interests like them."
