WASHINGTON—Florida Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D) is pushing back against the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) after it stated that he did not support law enforcement and is actively "fueling the anti-law enforcement violence and rhetoric."
Rep. Moskowitz address the allegation to The Floridian shortly after votes concluded Tuesday night, saying that he did go after Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) over their budget, but that he did the support the government agency and was "against abolishing ICE."
"I don’t support abolishing ICE. I am against abolishing ICE. I do support body cameras on ICE," said Rep. Moskowitz. " I do support clearly more training, and I don’t support increasing the budget. We gave them like a $170 billion dollars that they cleary haven’t spent."
When asked if he supported the current nationwide ICE raids to capture criminal illegal aliens, Moskowitz said that he supported law enforcement arresting criminals.
"I support going after criminals, which is what the American people signed up for because that was clearly on the ballot," Moskowitz added.
Both "radical" Moskowitz and Rep. Darren Soto weretargeting by the NRCC, accused of being "part of the problem" in a recent press release.
"Instead of supporting our brave law enforcement for the work they do every single day, Soto and Moskowitz are fueling the anti-law enforcement violence and rhetoric. Soto accused ICE of committing "CRIMES" and "violence against civilians” and Moskowitz said "masked men are shooting American citizens in the face," read the release.
The allegation against Moskowitz stems from an interview he did on MS NOW where he criticized ICE agents for "shooting Americans in the face" and stated that ICE should not receive anymore funding because they have not spent the money that was already allocated to them.
Moskowitz was referencing the recent shooting in Minnesota where an ICE agent shot a woman in the face after she hit him with her vehicle.
In addition, Moskowitz called Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem "the weakest link of the administration" and suggesting that President Donald Trump should fire her because according to him, "she's just an embarrassment to the President."
"Out of touch, radical Democrats Darren Soto and Jared Moskowitz used their platform to tear down law enforcement officers. This rhetoric is a threat to officers' safety, and Soto and Moskowitz bear responsibility," state NRCC Spokesman Maureen O'Toole
Republicans have target both Reps. Soto and Moskowitz in the 2026 midterm elections. If the expected redistricting of congressional districts in Florida occurs, both congressman could see their respective districts lean Republican.
The Republican-led Florida Legislature will be addressing redistricting in the next couple of months. Governor Ron DeSantis has already called for a special session on redistricting for April.
