The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) continues to target Democratic Rep. Jared Moskowitz in the 2026 midterm election cycle, this time the group is hitting him on Valentine's Day over the "150 pairs of sneakers" he owns and his recent vote to raise taxes by 22 percent.
The group brands Rep. Moskowitz as the "least effective Democrat" in the House of Representatives.
"Unfortunately for Florida, Jared Moskowitz is more interested in his sneakers than in making their lives better. This November, they'll vote him out, because they know they don't have to settle," stated NRCC Spokeswoman Maureen O'Toole
Moskowitz pushed out a Valentine's Day reminder of the tragic Marjorie Stoneman Douglass school shooting that occurred on February 14, 2018, where 17 innocent teachers and students were killed.
"It’s been eight years since the Parkland community was forever changed. On February 14, 2018, seventeen innocent members of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas family were taken from us. Fourteen students and three staff members went to school that day and never came home. The pain of that day stays with us. I know those memories haunt the survivors and loved ones in ways no one should ever have to endure. What happened at MSD that day should never have happened. The government failed our community. It shouldn’t be like this," stated Moskowitz. "Since day one, my work in Congress has been focused on protecting our communities. I will continue to work with anyone, on either side of the aisle, to ensure that all faculty and students are safe in schools."
In response to the ad, Moskowitz sent over this response:
“I do like sneakers, but I don’t celebrate Valentines day anymore, and haven’t for 8 years now, since 17 people were killed at my high school -- Marjory Stoneman Douglas in my hometown of Parkland on Valentines day. The NRCC would know that if they knew the district. But they don’t. That’s why we don’t elect special interests like them. We elect people on the ground who live in their communities, understand what people are going through, and that see family members at Publix who buried a child because the government failed them on Valentine’s Day.”
The NRCC previously accused Moskowitz of "fueling the anti-law enforcement violence and rhetoric" over his position on the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency.
Moskowitz and Rep. Darren Soto are considered two of the members of the House of Representatives that Republicans see as vulnerable.
