Congressman and Florida gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds (R-FL) shared he has been endorsed by the Florida Chamber of Commerce through a press release this week.
The Florida Chamber of Commerce (FL Chamber), the state's largest business organization, represents over 139,000 businesses and advocates for over three million private-sector employees across the state.
“Florida is changing. Florida’s economy and population continue to grow, and in order to keep Florida moving into the next eight years with as much positive growth as the last eight, voters must get to the polls and elect leaders like Byron Donalds,” Florida Chamber President and CEO Mark Wilson said. “Congressman Donalds has spent his career standing up for Florida’s job creators, small businesses and workers and will fight to enact policies that allow for more high-wage jobs, improve Florida’s education system, and ensure Florida remains the top destination for businesses, families and opportunity. The number one action Floridians can take to help the outcome of this election is to vote, because nothing less than Florida’s future is at stake.”
The FL Chamber's endorsement comes on the heels of Rep. Donalds' "Florida Dream Tour" pushing for economic growth and cutting red tape earlier this month. Donalds has also advocated for lowering taxes and increasing workforce opportunities during his stops.
Rep. Donalds thanked the FL Chamber for its endorsement.
“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of Florida’s largest and most influential business advocacy organization, the Florida Chamber of Commerce,” Donalds said. “I’m committed to making life more affordable by keeping taxes low, reducing burdensome regulations and litigation, and diversifying our economy. As Governor, I look forward to working again with the Florida Chamber to create more high-paying jobs for Floridians and further Florida’s reputation as the best state in the country for business.”
Along with the FL Chamber, Donalds has support from the Florida Farm Bureau FarmPAC, Associated Industries of Florida, the Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association, and the Associated Builders and Contractors of Florida in his bid. He has also the endorsement of President Donald Trump and several Republican leaders, including Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL) and House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.).
Donalds is in a Republican Primary with Lt. Jay Collins, former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner, and businessman James Fishback.
The primary is Aug. 18.
