Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) reaffirmed her support for the Trump administration’s efforts to bring peace to the Russia-Ukraine war amid criticism and backlash over President Donald Trump’s recently announced oil deal with Russia and purported energy ceasefire between the two nations.

“This war has to end,” Rep. Luna wrote on X. “Thousands of people are being killed, and the fact that elected officials are calling for continued U.S. supply of munitions to NATO (and thus to Ukraine) highlights the hypocrisy of the situation.”

“Are we to keep supplying munitions and allow the war to drag on indefinitely?"

“I will continue to back an administration that pursues peace in any way possible, and I think Secretary [Marco] Rubio has handled this issue extraordinarily well," Rep. Luna said.

Trump's Russian Diesel Agreement

Congresswoman Luna's affirmation comes after President Trump announced he reached a deal with Russian President Vladimir Putin to supply roughly 1.8 million tons of diesel fuel to the American and global market by the end of the year.

Senate Foreign Relations Committee Condemns Agreement

However, The president's attempt to lower diesel prices amid an ongoing fuel crisis faced bipartisan backlash, including a statement from some members of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

“Congress explicitly banned Russian energy imports in 2022 to prevent American dollars from financing Putin’s brutal war against Ukraine,” the coalition wrote. “The United States should not provide Putin with a financial lifeline while Russia continues to kill Ukrainian civilians.”

Trump Announces Energy Ceasefire

Following the oil deal, President Trump also announced an energy ceasefire, urging both parties to adhere to the purported pause.

Zelenskyy Calls Out Putin For Violating Ceasefire

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy affirmed a day later that Ukraine would abide by the rules if Russia followed suit.

“Our offer is honest and clear – we are ready to respect an energy ceasefire if Russia is ready to do the same – we agree if they agree,” Zelenskyy wrote on X.

“Last night, Russian oil refineries were not burning. But at midnight, a Russian jet-powered “Shahed” struck a gas-production facility in Ukraine. There was also a Russian strike on an ordinary gas station, involving several drones,” the Ukrainian leader revealed.

“So there were Russian violations of the energy ceasefire announced by President Trump,” Zelenskyy argued.
