Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) announced that she will be introducing a House resolution aimed at voiding President Donald Trump’s impeachment during his first term in office.

Paulina Luna Argues Ties Between Russia & Trump "Never Happened"

In a statement via X, Congresswoman Paulina Luna argues that the U.S. Department of Justice’s (DOJ) findings of ties between the Russian government and Trump campaign officials amid the Russian government’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election “never happened.”

Rep. Luna backs her claims by citing the Office of the Director of National Intelligence's (ODNI) July 18, 2025, press release, which announced that DNI Tulsi Gabbard "revealed overwhelming evidence" that former President Barack Obama and his national security team "manufactured and politicized intelligence" to ignite a "years-long coup against President Trump."

“It was a terrible lie that tore this country apart, and was plotted by a weaponized intelligence agency under Obama,” Congresswoman Luna wrote.

According to NPR, the “overwhelming evidence” found by DNI Gabbard does not showcase “manufactured and politicized intelligence.”

Obama officials reportedly concluded that it was unlikely Russian hackers would have the chance to successfully tamper with physical election infrastructure or manipulate votes without detection.

The 2017 assessment instead argued that Russian “influence”, such as social media disinformation networks, hack-and-leak campaigns, Russian bot farms and other more psychological efforts made by Russian actors were at play.

Paulina Luna Argues "History Should Reflect What Actually Transpired"

“There is no monetary value that can be assigned to the damage this lie caused. It destroyed families’ relationships with one another, our country’s comradery, and our relationship with another nuclear super power (Russia) that could have resulted in war,” she added, praising the Trump administration for aiming to restore its relationship with Russia.

“HISTORY should reflect what actually transpired,” Luna concluded, asserting the need for President Trump’s 2019 articles of impeachment for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress to be voided.

Trump's 2019 Impeachment: Trump-Ukraine Impeachment Report

In her statement, Rep. Luna associates President Trump’s first impeachment with the Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

According to the U.S. House of Representatives’ Trump-Ukraine Impeachment Report, however, the House drafted articles of impeachment after it “found that President Trump, personally and acting through agents within and outside of the U.S. government, solicited the interference of a foreign government, Ukraine, to benefit his reelection.”

“In pressuring President Zelensky to carry out his demand, President Trump withheld a White House meeting desperately sought by the Ukrainian President, and critical U.S. military assistance to fight Russian aggression in eastern Ukraine,” the report states.
