Florida Agricultural Commissioner Wilton Simpson shared that he has received endorsements from U.S. Sens. Rick Scott (R-FL) and Ashley Moody (R-FL) in his re-election campaign for commissioner.
“Wilton Simpson and I have worked together for many years and his proven commitment to Florida’s families is evident in his track record of fighting for a stronger economy, safer communities and education opportunities for our students," Scott wrote on social media.
"As a farmer, he knows first hand how critical it is that we protect our precious natural resources for future generations of Floridians, and to ensure a safe food supply. Because of the work we achieved together that began over a decade ago when I was Governor and he was in the Florida Senate, Florida is the envy of the nation," Scott continued. "I am proud to endorse Wilton Simpson for Agriculture Commissioner because Floridians deserve leaders who will put them first.”
Sen. Moody also shared a resounding endorsement.
"Wilton Simpson has dedicated his entire life to protecting our food supply and the hard working farmers who have made it their mission to feed Florida," Moody wrote. "Wilton tackles the challenges we face with the combined wisdom of a farmer and a father, addressing root causes aimed at long-term solutions. I am proud to endorse my friend Wilton Simpson for Agriculture Commissioner because I know he will always fight for a stronger, more prosperous Florida."
Sens. Scott and Moody's endorsement comes after Commissioner Simpson announced his re-election bid in April. Simpson, a Republican, has been Agricultural Commissioner since January 2023.
Simpson won his first election by nearly 19 points over Democrat Naomi Blemur in 2022. He is one of five candidates running for the job this fall, but is arguably the favorite to win.
The other candidates are Kyle Chaderwick Gibson, Richard Earl Olle Jr, Chase "Andy" Anderson Romagnano, and Matt The Welder.
Simpson's current term ends in January 2027.
Simpson has also been endorsed by the Florida Farm Bureau Federation and several Florida sheriffs, including Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd, Miami-Dade County Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz, Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, Duval County Sheriff T.K. Waters, and Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco.
Before becoming Commissioner, Simpson served in the Florida Senate from 2012 to 2022, including as President from 2020 to 2022. He was also considered a candidate for Florida governor, but never announced.
Simpson is a longtime farmer, entrepreneur, and native Floridian. His career includes owning and managing a large-scale egg-laying operation in the state for four decades.
The 2026 general election will be held on November 3.
