Florida lawmakers commemorated the second anniversary of the horrific attack perpetrated by Hamas that left 1,200 Israelis dead on October 7th, 2023.
Rep. Bean released a statement, commenting that "two years ago today, Hamas exposed its evil in a savage, unprovoked assault on Israel. These brutalists murdered more than 1,200 innocent men, women, and children, and took 251 hostages." "For 730 days, families have endured unimaginable pain waiting for the safe return of their loved ones," he continued, adding, "48 hostages remain in captivity, and their release is long overdue."
The Florida Congressman commended President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for "securing the release of hostages through ceasefire agreements and applaud the 20-point plan currently under negotiation that offers a path to end the conflict, brings every hostage home, and restores lasting stability in the region. "
Representative Byron Donalds (R-FL) took to X to comment on the anniversary, sharing, "we remember the thousands of innocent souls lost and the despicable barbarism perpetrated by genocidal agents of terror."
"We pray for the release of all hostages, for a lasting peace in the Middle East, and for an end to anti-Semitism," he concluded.
Representative Lois Frankel (D-FL) announced that she is working with Representative Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) in "introducing a resolution condemning Hamas's horrific acts, reaffirming America's commitment to Israel's security, and urging the release of hostages and lasting peace in the region."
As well, Representative Cory Mills (R-FL) expressed, "we remember the lives lost, the families shattered, and the pain still felt. May their memory be a blessing and may peace still someday prevail."
"After that brutal attack, I stepped in to rescue Americans left behind by the previous administration that had failed them," Rep. Mills continued, referencing his rescue of Americans stranded in the country. "It’s been two long years of chaos and fighting, but President Trump is now bringing peace to the Middle East by holding talks with Hamas and leaders from around the world to secure the release of hostages, end the war in Gaza, and finally achieve lasting peace."
