President Donald Trump, along with numerous Florida elected officials, reacted to the death of conservative commentator and founder of Turning Point USA Charlie Kirk after he was shot and killed during an event at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.

"Rest in Peace, Charlie Kirk. Casey and I are praying for his family," Gov. Ron DeSantis said. "Charlie was a warrior for liberty, and his murder is a tragedy for our nation."

Lt. Governor Jay Collins added, "Today, we grieve the brutal and senseless loss of Charlie Kirk, a husband, father, and fearless advocate whose voice stirred conviction and courage in millions. Shot while speaking to students at Utah Valley University, Charlie’s death is not only a tragedy— it is a chilling reminder of the growing intolerance toward free speech and civil discourse."

Chief Financial Officer Blaise Ingoglia also mourned Kirk's loss.

First Lady Casey DeSantis added, "He was a courageous defender of liberty. His young family needs prayers more than ever — our hearts break for their loss. Rest in peace, Charlie."

Congressman and Florida gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds also mourned Kirk's passing.

Kirk, 31, founded Turning Point USA in 2012. The grassroots organization is known for promoting conservative principles nationwide, with Kirk at the forefront, including at college campuses across the country.
