The primary battle wages on between Ambassador Nikki Haley (R) and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R). With the Iowa Caucus just days away, Governor DeSantis has released a new advertisement, slamming “Wall Street funded” Haley.
The advertisement utilizes footage from Ambassador Haley’s campaign stop in Milford, New Hampshire. During the event, Ambassador Haley told the audience “you know Iowa starts it. You know that you (New Hampshire) corrects it” in reference to the Iowa Caucus.
This quickly drew criticism from Republicans and the press, and Ambassador Haley quickly offered to clarify her statement. However, Governor DeSantis has criticized her comments, calling them disrespectful to the state and its people.
The advertisement, dubbing her “Wall Street funded,” goes on to make a distinction between her and Governor DeSantis, calling him and individual that “embodies and defends Iowa’s values of faith, family, and freedom.”
Sharing the advertisement on social media, Governor DeSantis further commented on the ordeal in the caption, writing that “Nikki Haley is disparaging the Iowa Caucuses and insulting you.”
Affirming that he “will always defend Iowa’s values of faith, family, and freedom,” the presidential hopeful went on to comment that “while Donald Trump is focused on himself and Haley is focused on big donors, I hope to earn your support on January 15 – I won’t let you down!”
Both Governor DeSantis and Ambassador Haley have been in a tight race for second place as President Donald Trump (R) still holds a clear lead over his Republican primary challengers. Furthermore, President Trump has been involved in fierce rivalries with both candidates who once considered the president a political friend.
Governor DeSantis and Ambassador Haley have been asked if they would consider joining forces in a ticket to defeat President Trump, but both have been clear in that they believe their respective candidates can defeat the former president and clinch the nomination.
