Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) is urging Congress to pass his healthcare reform legislation, arguing that Obamacare is to blame for the U.S. healthcare system’s current troubles.
In a video published on X, Sen. Scott argues against Democratic Socialists’ calls to federalize healthcare, citing Obamacare and government intervention as reasons for the system’s current state.
“Wherever you see a cost-of-living problem, you can bet government caused it,” Sen. Scott said. “Obamacare is the single biggest reason that our healthcare system is unaffordable and a complete disaster.”
“That’s why I wrote the More Affordable Care Act (MACA) to drive down costs for the American people.”
More Affordable Care Act
In late Nov. 2025, Sen. Scott introduced the MACA to fix the shortcomings of the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
The bill sought to help families get healthcare that fits their needs, instill transparency in the healthcare system, and provide direct support to Americans instead of insurance companies.
The legislation would do so by establishing “Trump Health Freedom Accounts.” These Health Savings Account (HSA)-style accounts would let the federal government directly support American families rather than funneling funds to insurance companies.
MACA would also allow Americans to shop for health plans across state lines through a state waiver program within the ACA.
“Get government out of the way and radically empower the American people,” Sen. Scott said.
"Rescuing America" Project
Sen. Scott’s effort is part of his comprehensive “Rescuing America” project – an initiative set to lay the groundwork for Congress to “reinvigorate the American Dream” amid the ongoing affordability crisis.
The project is also Sen. Scott’s effort to “Rescue America” from the rise in Socialism and the growing popularity of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).
One of the organization’s core policy and campaign priorities includes Medicare for All – a universal single-payer healthcare system with comprehensive coverage that is free at the point of service.
