Scott Singer, the Republican congressional nominee for Florida’s 25th District (FL CD 25), recently called out incumbent Congressman Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) for refusing to debate the challenger ahead of the 2026 Midterm election.
The challengers were set to face off in a scheduled televised debate on WPLG Local 10.
“It is disappointing that Jared refuses to debate, now causing the latest opportunity, the Local 10 debate, to be canceled,” the former Boca Raton mayor said. “The network proposed the terms weeks ago. We agreed to what the network proposed. Jared simply refuses. He didn’t propose a counter. He just simply said no.”
Singer Calls For Transparency & Accountability
“South Florida voters deserve the opportunity to hear directly from both candidates and understand exactly where we stand on the issues that matter most to their families, communities, and future,” Singer asserted.
Singer reaffirmed that his campaign’s efforts to schedule a debate are to provide transparency and accountability for any candidate attempting to represent FL CD 25 in Congress.
“A debate would give a chance for constituents of FL-25 to learn why Jared Moskowitz has used his positions in government to enrich his financial position, why in Congress he voted to keep Rep. Ilhan Omar on the Foreign Affairs Committee, why he voted for the biggest tax hikes in American history, and why his Democrat party has gone so far to the left that he said in his own words, Pro-Israel Democrats are being ‘ostracized’ in the Democratic Party,” Singer stated.
Polling Indicates High Chance of Democrats Flipping the House
Singer’s statement comes amid recent polling indicating that Democrats are in a good position to flip the House in November.
According to Cook Political Report’s Battleground District September poll, FL-25 is considered a toss-up district, meaning that this year’s race remains highly contentious.
Is Moskowitz Confident or Scared To Be Held Accountable?
The question now is: could Rep. Moskowitz’s refusal to debate stem from confidence in a secure win or fear of being held accountable, as Singer is seeking to do?
While speaking to The Floridian, Rep. Moskowitz touted Republicans’ efforts to catch up to Democrats amid their risk of losing control of Congress.
“The reason they’re behind is because Americans were promised a more affordable way of life, and things have only gotten more expensive,” Rep. Moskowitz said.
