Pia Dandiya, the Democratic challenger to Republican Casey Askar in Florida's 22nd Congressional District, has released her first advertisement in the general election as Election Day gets closer.
The Ad
In the 30-second ad, Dandiya begins by saying, "My parents taught me to leave the world better than I found it. So I became a teacher for students others had written off."
"It's a lesson most in Washington never learned," she continues, adding, "They're focused on enriching themselves while we get hit with rising costs."
Dandiya emphasizes that she will work to ban members of Congress from buying and trading stocks, "fight to lower the cost of healthcare, protect Social Security and Medicare, and pass a middle-class tax cut."
"It's time Congress works for you, not for themselves," Dandiyda concludes.
Dandiya's Prospects
An HMP poll from the end of August suggests that Dandiya has a slim 2-point lead over Casey Askar, while her campaign has accumulated a hefty $2 million for its war chest.
Last week, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) suggested she was open to campaigning with Dandiya, having already endorsed Democratic Senate candidate Angie Nixon.
Dandiya's ad comes right as the No Going Back super PAC attacked her for evidently supporting tax hikes, citing her opposition to the One Big Beautiful Big Act (OBBBA) and her previous calls to "tax the wealthiest Americans."
"The fairest way to keep these programs strong for generations to come is to ask the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share — not to balance the budget on the backs of the people who built this country," Dandiya's website reads.
Additionally, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) previously insinuated that Dandiya would vote to impeach President Donald Trump again after Representative Al Green's (D-TX) most recent resolution failed.
"This is Pia Dandiya's and Democrats' full agenda: Impeachment, Obstruction, Socialism, Repeat. Give Dandiya and Democrats power, and they will put the American people through a never-ending doom cycle of political theater," warned NRCC spokeswoman Maureen O'Toole.
