Palm Beach International Airport (PBI) has officially been renamed to Donald J. Trump International Airport.
Eric Trump celebrated the airport’s new designation, affirming that “there is no person who has done more for Florida and our country, and no one more deserving of this incredible honor,” than his father.
At 5:01 a.m. EST, Trump Force One, the aircraft owned by DJT Operations, became “the first plane to land at the newly renamed” airport as the Trump family commemorated the milestone.
Eric also praised Florida Rep. Meg Weinberger (R-Palm Beach Gardens), Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), and Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier for their roles in securing the airport’s name change.
Rep. Weinberger Celebrates the Change
“I am proud to support this historic renaming and the legacy it represents for generations to come,” Rep. Weinberger wrote on X. “Welcome to President Donald J. Trump International Airport, where the skies are friendly, and greatness takes off.”
Airport's Transitional Period
On Mar. 30, 2026, Gov. Ron DeSantis signed Rep. Weinberger’s co-sponsored bill to rename PBI in honor of President Donald Trump.
Effective immediately, the Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) locational identifier will transition from PBI to DJT, and the airport’s International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) identifier from KPBI to KDJT.
Despite the FAA’s immediate change to its operational identifier, the transition will still take place in phases until the International Air Transport Association (IATA) implements the commercial code change on Aug. 18, 2026.
Until the transitional period is over, the airport advises travelers to continue using PBI when searching and booking flights and checking baggage.
"While we recognize that the required name change may be received in different ways by our passengers, we're grateful for your continued support through this transition period," the airport shares in its frequently asked questions page. "We remain committed to serving all passengers and ensuring a positive travel experience."
