Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed State Rep. Meg Weinberger's bill into law to rename Palm Beach International Airport after President Donald J. Trump.

"America’s greatest President deserves an airport that bears his name," stated Rep. Weinberger. "It’s an honor to recognize President Trump’s lasting impact on our nation by renaming Palm Beach International Airport in his name Donald J. Trump International Airport. This is more than a name change; it’s a tribute to leadership, legacy, and love of country right here in his hometown."

The official renaming of President Donald J. Trump International Airport is scheduled to take effect July 1st, and still awaits approval by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), according to the legislation’s text.

"Changing an airport name is a local issue, and the FAA does not approve airport name changes," The FAA said in a statement on Mar. 30."However, the FAA must complete some administrative tasks to include updating navigational charts and databases."

Earlier in February, an entity managed by the Trump Organization filed a trademark application for the name, according to records from the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

In addition, the application listed several travel-related items and merchandise, “including luggage, flight suits and plastic shoe protectors for the airport security screening process,” according to CBS News.

CBS News also reported that the entity stated that the trademark application resulted from the Florida bill but affirmed that it “did not seek to profit off the name change.”

"To be clear, the President and his family will not receive any royalty, licensing fee, or financial consideration whatsoever from the proposed airport renaming," the company shared in a statement following the application.

The legislation stipulates that Palm Beach County must “at minimum” be authorized the “perpetual and unrestricted right” to use the Trump airport name and related abbreviations for airport use at no cost, according to NBC News.

President Trump’s son and Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization, Eric Trump, commended the legislation’s passing on a post via X.

“Proud to have played a small role in making this happen. Huge thanks to @megforflorida, @GovRonDeSantis, @JamesUtheimerFL, and the overwhelming majority in the Florida House,” He wrote.
