Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has endorsed State Rep. Angie Nixon (D-FL) in her bid to oust Senator Ashley Moody (R-FL).
State Rep. Nixon announced her candidacy in January, vowing to fight for working families.
She has served in the Florida House since 2022, but to defeat Senator Moody, State Rep. Nixon must first defeat her primary opponent, Alexander Vindman.
Vindman, who also announced his candidacy earlier this year, is a former National Security Council aide who played a central role in President Donald Trump’s first impeachment.
State Rep. Nixon announced Rep. Omar’s endorsement on social media, writing that the Minnesota Congresswoman is fighting for the same cause.

“We are fighting for a future where working families are front and center in policymaking,” the Florida House member wrote in an X post. “That means Medicare for All. It means guaranteed childcare for working families. It means a Florida we can actually afford.”
In a Facebook post announcing the candidacy, State Rep. Nixon further praised Rep. Omar’s backing, calling it “a testament to the movement we are building.”
In an exclusive interview with The Floridian in May, the senatorial hopeful emphasized that it's time for Senator Moody to pack her bags and go because she has "failed" Florida.
"She failed our state, because first of all, she's frankly, she's nowhere to be found," State Rep. Nixon commented. "She's not responsive to people."
