Following a U.S. House Armed Services Committee Full Committee Markup for the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27 NDAA), Rep. Cory Mills (R) expressed gratitude for passing an amendment to the legislation that seeks to protect U.S. military installations from foreign influence.

“Honored to pass this amendment to protects our military installations from Chinese components being used in data centers on our installations,” Congressman Mills wrote in a post on X. “This bill protects national security, promotes American businesses, and builds industry capability.”

Praises from the PCBAA

The Florida legislator issued his comments in response to a statement from the Printed Circuit Board Association of America (PCBAA).

“PCBAA applauds Congressman Mills (FL-7) for standing up for what’s right for America,” the association’s executive director, David Schild, wrote, praising Rep. Mills for sponsoring the amendment.

“Chinese microelectronics have no place on military installations, and America’s PCB [Printed Circuit Board] manufacturers stand ready to build trusted and secure supply chains,” Schild added.

The PCBAA represents U.S. “companies and individuals supporting the domestic production of printed circuit boards, IC [Integrated Circuit] substrates, printed circuit board assembly, the materials utilized in their construction, and the associated equipment supply chains,” per the association’s website.

The NDAA's Significance

The NDAA seeks to establish a “comprehensive plan to restore American strength, rebuild readiness, and modernize our military for the challenges ahead,” according to a press release from Rep. Mills’ office.

The bill broadens U.S. production capabilities, facilitates private sector investments, “reduces unnecessary regulatory” stipulations, and opens room “for innovative new entrants.”

“The result is stronger supply chains, greater resilience, and thousands of high-quality American jobs,” the media note affirms.

“As always, my priority is ensuring our military is the most capable, lethal, and well-supported force in the world, while safeguarding every dollar entrusted to the American taxpayer,” Congressman Mills concludes.
