Congressman and Florida gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds (R-FL) shared two new campaign ads highlighting his policies to fix the state's affordability crisis and his stance on AI data centers through posts on social media this week.
"My mom worked two jobs in Brooklyn, and we still lived paycheck to paycheck. Florida is where I built something from nothing, raised a family, and lived the Florida dream," Donalds said. "But today rising costs risk everything. That's why I'll cut property taxes, reduce insurance rates, and make life more affordable."
Affordability remains a major concern for Floridians, according to an Associated Industries of Florida (AIF) poll.
In another ad, Rep. Donalds promised to fight against expensive AI (Artificial Intelligence) data centers at the hands of Florida taxpayers. AI data centers have been hot-button topic in Florida and in the gubernatorial race, as well as across the country.
"You don't want to pay for AI data centers, and when I'm governor, you won't," Donalds said. "I'm Byron Donalds. I stand with President Trump and Governor DeSantis to protect Florida families and communities from data centers that jack up utility rates and make everything else more expensive. As Governor, I'll fight for a ratepayer protection plan, because in my Florida you don't protect our pocketbooks and our people, you won't build back centers, period."
Rep. Donalds announced his candidacy for governor in February 2025. President Donald Trump, U.S. Sen. Rick Scott, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), and several Floridia Congressional and State leaders have endorsed him in the race.
In addition, Donalds has been endorsed by the Florida Chamber of Commerce, the Florida Farm Bureau FarmPAC, and a majority of Florida sheriffs, including Miami-Dade County Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz and Duval County Sheriff T.K. Waters.
Donalds is in a Republican primary with Lt. Gov. Jay Collins, former Florida House Speaker Pau Renner, and businessman James Fishback.
The primary is Aug. 18.
