The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is "FOREVER BARRED and PRECLUDED" from "prosecuting or pursuing, any and all claims" against President Donald Trump, his family, or his businesses based on past tax concerns, according to added terms to the settlement the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) reached with President Trump to dismiss his $10 billion suit against the statutory board and the Department of the Treasury.

According to Politico, the DOJ secretly posted a one-page document on its website, which included a “sweeping release” confirming the new stipulation.

The additional terms came a day after the DOJ released a nine-page settlement that established a $1.776 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund” to compensate allies of President Trump who claim the Biden administration wrongfully targeted them – including individuals who were charged in connection with the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riots.

The original settlement did not contain any information regarding President Trump’s previous tax returns, which he argued were under protracted IRS audits.

According to the waiver, the IRS is barred from auditing “tax returns filed before the effective date [May 18, 2026]” of the settlement.

“As is customary in settlements, both sides have executed waivers of a variety of claims that were or could have been brought,” the Justice Department said in a statement. “There would be little point in settling several significant claims if either party could simply turn around and seek to initiative more adverse claims that could have been pursued previously.”

The settlement stems from a $10 billion lawsuit against the IRS by President Trump, his sons, and the Trump Organization over the leak of the President’s tax returns.

In addition to the leak, President Trump also claimed damages in connection with a 2022 search of his Florida residence and the investigation into potential Russian interference in the 2016 Presidential election.

As part of the dismissal of all claims, President Trump is also expected to receive a formal apology from the government, receiving no monetary compensation.
