WASHINGTON— With the world watching to see if President Donald Trump topples the Cuban regime like he did in Venezuela, where he used military force to remove Dictator Nicolas Maduro from office, is Cuba a national security threat to America, and is that enough for the U.S. to engage in regime change?
Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R), who has never been to Cuba and is one of a few Cuban-American lawmakers from the Miami area, is now calling for regime change via military action.
“The President has the obligation to, as Commander in Chief as president, to protect the national security interests of the United States,” said Rep. Diaz-Balart in a recent interview with The Floridian. “The regime in Cuba is serious national security threat.”
Interestingly enough, when Rep. Diaz-Balart said he had “never been to Cuba,” we jokingly question him because he had visited (many times) the Cuban-American enclave of Hialeah.
The congressman joking questioned if Hialeah was the second largest Cuban city outside of Havana.
It made us think if he had a point.
Is the City of Hialeah second to Havana when it comes to Cuban inhabitants?
Our curiosity was peaked, so we decided to do a little research on the issue, and found that while Hialeah does have a huge Cuban population (163,898), it is not second to Havana.
According to a recent world population report, Havana ranks 9th in Cuban population.
Havana-1,583,433
Santiago de Cuba— 435,126
Holquin—283,258
Camaguey—249,856
Bayamo—205,533
Santa Clara—192,962
Guantanamo—189,312
Las Tunas—178,391
Hialeah—163,898
He was close, but no Cuban cigar for Rep. Diaz-Balart.
Hialeah is the U.S. city with the highest concentration of Cuban Americans. Dale!

“According to a report, Havana ranks ninth in Cuban population”
– goes on to highlight Hialeah-
