The Republican primary race in Florida's 22nd Congressional District could turn out to be one of the closest races to watch this election cycle, as now Belinda Keiser, Vice Chancellor of Keiser University, has filed to run against incumbent Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D).

Is the second time the charm?

Keiser, who has deep ties to Florida's political class,  lost to Senator Gayle Harrell back in 2022. While Keiser lost the race by 10 percentage points, she did run a solid campaign.

Now that she is running to oust Rep. Wasserman Schultz, it will be interesting to see if her opponents will hammer hard on her past political donations to Rep. Wasserman Schultz.

Keiser enters the Republican primary race on the heals of Collier businessman and long-time Trump ally Casey Askar recent announcement to run in CD 22.

Other Republicans running in this seat are Michael Carbonara,  David Burck, Deborah Adeimy, and Dr. Herbie Wertheim.
