President Donald Trump warned that the U.S. will impose a 50% tariff “on any and all goods” to any country “supplying military weapons to Iran” in a social media post via Truth Social.
“A Country supplying Military Weapons to Iran will be immediately tariffed, on any and all goods sold to the United States of America, 50%, effective immediately. There will be no exclusions or exemptions! President DJT,” the president wrote.
The announcement comes after the U.S. suspended all offensive operations in Iran following President Trump's revelation that he would agree to a 2-week ceasefire should the Islamic Republic re-open the Strait of Hormuz.
Ceasefire Agreement Aftermath
Following President Trump’s agreement, Nour News, an Iranian Supreme National Council-backed media outlet, published a 10-point peace deal.
According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), within the peace deal, Iran calls for the “acceptance that Iran can enrich uranium for its nuclear program,” “removal of all primary sanctions on Iran,” and “ceasefire on all fronts, including Israel’s conflict with Hezbollah in Lebanon.”
Despite Iran’s proposal to enrich uranium, President Trump wrote that “there will be no enrichment,” adding that the U.S. will provide aid to the Islamic Republic to “dig up and remove all of the buried (B-2 Bombers) Nuclear ‘Dust’.”
WSJ also reported that the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu shared that the cease-fire between the U.S. and Iran does not apply to the conflict in Lebanon, despite Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s statements that it applies everywhere.
Mediators and a source familiar with the matter informed WSJ that Israel was not happy with the terms of the ceasefire and did not like being informed about the deal once it was finalized, before being consulted.
In a Pentagon briefing, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth declared “decisive military victory” over the Islamic Republic, revealing that “they can no longer build missiles” and confirming the destruction of Iran’s military industrial base.
“By any measure, [Operation] Epic Fury decimated Iran’s military and rendered it combat ineffective for years to come,” Hegseth said.
