Florida Congressional candidate George Moraitis announced he has collected the required number of voter petition signatures to qualify for the District 23 election in November.
"This is a testament to the thousands of voters across CD 23 who believe it's time for real leadership in Washington," Moraitis said in a campaign statement. "Neighbors across the district opened their doors and signed their names because they are ready for a representative who will put their families first and actually get things done. I am deeply honored by their trust, and I will never stop fighting for them."
Moraitis, who launched his campaign in March 2025, is running against Scott Singer, Darlene Cerezo Swaffer, Raven Harrison, Joe Kaufman, Rafeal Ortiz, and Jared Gurfein for the Republican nomination on Aug. 18, 2026.
The primary winner will likely face Democrat Jared Moskowitz (D-FL), who has held the seat since 2023. Democratic Socialist Oliver Larkin is challenging Rep. Moskowitz for the Democratic nomination.
Born in Fort Lauderdale, Moraitis graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and served in the United States Navy. His political career includes stints as a State representative for House District 91 from 2010 to 2012 and House District 93 from 2012 to 2018.
Congressional Reps. Greg Steube (R-FL), Scott Franklin (R-FL), Mike Haridopolos (R-FL), and Gus Bilikrakis (R-FL) have all endorsed Moraitis in the race. Moraitis is also endorsed by Rep. Jake Ellzey (R-TX).
Like Moraitis, all served in the U.S. Navy.
District 23 covers portions of Broward County and southern Palm Beach County, including parts of Fort Lauderdale and Boca Raton.
"I have spent a lifetime in service to our country and this community," Moraitis added. "I served honorably as a Navy Submarine Warfare Officer. "I served eight years in the Florida House. And now I'm ready to serve again, because South Florida deserves a representative who will put partisan grandstanding aside and work to make a real difference for families right now."
