Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) has landed itself in controversy after a hacked email was distributed, directed at "minorities" and including racist and antisemitic language.
The email, which had the N-word in the subject line and which allegedly came from "Campus Administration," was directed at “minorities” and announced that “effective immediately, all Jewish individuals and Black individuals are required to vacate the Embry-Riddle premises by midnight tonight.” The email further announces that “this directive is issued to ensure compliance with internal policies and to maintain the integrity of our campus environment.”
“Please ensure that all personal belongings are removed and that no traces of your presence remain on the premises,” the email reads. “Failure to comply with this directive may result in immediate expulsion and potential legal consequences.”
The email comes as lawmakers across the country highlight International End Jewish Hatred Day.
ERAU has not issued a response regarding the hacked email.
In 2018, 27-year-old student Kevin Mark Scott and 34-year-old ERAU communications specialist Jeanette Blair Barott were arrested for allegedly hacking the university’s computers.
ERAU specializes in aviation, aerospace, engineering, and related STEM fields.
It is widely considered one of the most recognizable specialized aerospace institutions in the country.
