Representative Brian Mast (R-FL) has announced his bid for re-election in Florida's 21st congressional district, which comes shortly after the Sunshine State's new redistricting map was approved by the Florida Senate and sent to Governor Ron DeSantis's (R-FL) desk.
The new map would give the Republican Party four additional seats in Congress, potentially helping the GOP retain its slim majority in November.
Rep. Mast was re-elected to the current 21st congressional district by 23.6 points in the 2024 Election. President Donald Trump won the district by 16.5 points.
However, the redrawn map does not grant Republicans any significant boost in the Treasure Coast and Palm Beach areas, as it remains largely the same. On top of that, Rep. Mast is sitting on over $2.5 million in his 2026 midterm war chest, which is more than double that of Democratic candidate Pia Dandiya, who has approximately $1.17 million, according to Ballotpedia's March estimate.
"Since my first day in Congress, my focus has been simple: serve the Treasure Coast and Palm Beaches with the same grit and dedication I gave to our country in the Army," the Florida congressman announced in a presser. "Thank you for giving me the opportunity to swing the bat for you every day."
Mast recently chastised House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries' "maximum warfare" rhetoric surrounding redistricting before the third assassination attempt of President Donald Trump. Mast argued that the rhetoric proves "[Democrats] are terrified of a Florida that accurately reflects our conservative values — values rooted in the Constitution, individual liberty, and the conservation of Florida's natural beauty."
"Whether the district is shaped one way or another, I will never stop fighting for clean water, my fellow veterans, and all families who call our community home," Mast concluded.
The primary will be held on August 18th.
