President Donald Trump took to social media to express his frustration with the U.S.’s European allies, charging them to "go get your own oil" as the conflict with the Islamic Republic and its closure of the Strait of Hormuz leaves energy shortages worldwide.
"All of those countries that can't get jet fuel because of the Strait of Hormuz, like the United Kingdom, which refused to get involved in the decapitation of Iran, I have a suggestion for you: Number 1, buy from the U.S., we have plenty, and Number 2, build up some delayed courage, go to the Strait, and just TAKE IT," President Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.
In another post, President Trump acknowledged France’s refusal to allow the Israeli military to use its territory during the war effort.
“The Country of France wouldn’t let planes headed to Israel, loaded up with military supplies, fly over French territory. France has been VERY UNHELPFUL with respect to the “Butcher of Iran,” who has been successfully eliminated! The U.S.A. will REMEMBER!!!” he added.
President Trump’s posts come after the U.S. and Iran both launched strikes overnight.
The U.S. struck the Iranian city of Isfahan, home to one of the Islamic Republic’s nuclear sites.
Iran attacked a fully loaded Kuwaiti oil tanker in the Persian Gulf.
“You’ll have to start learning how to fight for yourself, the U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us. Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!,” President Trump expressed.
Since the launch of “Operation Epic Fury,” the joint U.S.-Israeli military operation against the Islamic Republic, the conflict has left more than 3,000 dead. The conflict has also caused severe disruptions to the world’s oil and natural gas supplies, with U.S. gas prices jumped past an average of $4 a gallon for the first time since 2022.
