WASHINGTON— The bipartisan DIGNITY Act of 2025 (H.R. 4393) sponsored by Florida Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar and cosponsored by 39 members of the House of Representatives, continues to gain traction in the lower chamber, but may not be able to garner the needed floor votes to pass.
"These people deserve it because they have given us their lives for years. They deserve to have the "Dignity" status, said Rep. Salazar. "It's true they are illegal, It's true they are undocumented."
While the legislative measure do have bipartisan support, and even though Rep. Salazar contends that it isn't amnesty, the outline of the measure screams of amnesty for illegal immigrants.
“The DIGNITY Act modernizes our immigration system so enforcement is effective, targeted, and consistent with our values," she explained. "It fixes what isn’t working, refocuses ICE on real threats, and establishes a tough, earned process for hard-working people who have lived here and contributed. It is not citizenship. It is not amnesty. It is dignity," stated Rep. Salazar.
While Salazar's bill appears to be the most comprehensive immigration bill to date and checks off many of the boxes of issues tied to the overall immigration reform issue in the country, it still lets illegal aliens who broke U.S. immigration law to stay and prosper in the country.
Now, the measure does not allow those illegal aliens allowed to stay to receive government subsidies and benefits, or allows for a pathway to citizenship. In other words, those illegal aliens that are allowed to stay would be offered like permanent immigration status, but won't be able to become U.S. citizens.
Here are the bills details:

No amnesty for those that cut in line illegally; we either have immigration law or we do not.
