Two days have passed since the U.S. launched air strikes against key military targets in Iran as part of Operation: Epic Fury, and Florida House Democrats continue to insist to President Donald Trump that hey outline his war plan to Congres.
In those two days, the Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed, Iran retaliated against multiple countries, including the U.S., and the first U.S. soldiers were killed by Iranian forces, all while questioning if President Donald Trump had the authority to launch these strikes.
“The news of three U.S. service members who have fallen and numerous others injured in the aftermath of Operation Epic Fury is tragic. My deepest condolences to their families, and I hope for a full recovery for the injured. May the memory of those lost be for a blessing,” Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) shared in a statement on X.
She continues her statement, claiming that the Iranian regime is “well-known worldwide for its murderous actions, its arming and funding of violent terror groups, for brutalizing its own people, and its continued work toward nuclear weaponization.”
“The status quo was unacceptable. The Iranian regime is committed to terror, and the threat they pose to peace has left the world on the brink of war for decades. That cannot continue,” she elaborated.
Rep. Wasserman Schultz concluded her post, urging President Trump to comply with the War Powers Act as he launched the military operation without consulting Congress first.
“President Trump must now comply with the War Powers Act and immediately consult Congress before any further action is taken. Americans deserve to understand the objectives, risks, and plan for the day after. Congress and the American people must be consulted and informed going forward,” she wrote.
Florida Congresswoman Lois Frankel (D) echoes the same sentiment, calling for the end of the Iranian regime and for Trump to consult Congress.
"The Iranian regime and its proxies have wreaked murderous havoc across the region -targeting U.S. servicemembers, Israel, and other allies, while advancing dangerous missile and nuclear programs that threaten global security," Rep. Frankel shared on X. "This threat must be eliminated and President Trump should come to Congress to consult Members on his Administration's objectives and plans moving forward. I am keeping our allies and our brave military in my thoughts as events unfold."
Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R) saw the situation in a slightly different light, commending Trump for his actions against Iran and using the recent events to fuel discussion of a possible similar operation to be conducted in Cuba, following recent U.S. pressure on Cuba’s economy.
“President Trump has restored American strength on the world stage. Dictators are no longer untouchable. Maduro in Venezuela was brought to justice. The Ayatollah’s murderous regime in Iran was humbled. The message is unmistakable: the days of impunity are over, and the era of accountability has begun,” Salazar said. “For 67 years, the Cuban people have endured repression, prison, and exile. That chapter is closing. Cuba is next.”Florida Politicians Respond to Air Strikes Against Iran
