Americans for Prosperity Action announced its endorsement of Congressman and Florida gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds (R-FL) for governor by praising his commitment to economic freedom and small government.
"I'm excited to say that today we are going to be announcing our endorsement of Congressman Byron Donalds for Florida's next governor," said Skyler Zander, senior advisor for Americans for Prosperity Action, in a video released on social media.
"Congressman Donalds has done incredible work, not only in D.C., but also here in Florida, and we're proud to stand behind him. He worked with President Trump to pass the Working Families Tax Cut, which is gonna bring real relief to Floridians, and I'm excited to see him as our next governor," Zander added.
The Working Families Tax Cut was part of President Trump's "One Big, Beautiful Bill," signed in July 2025. Provisions of the bill included eliminating federal taxes on tips and overtime and expanding the Child Tax Credit.
Americans for Prosperity Action (AFP Action) is a conservative political action committee advocating for free market policies, including limited government and fiscal responsibility.
Rep. Donalds thanked AFP Action for their endorsement.
"I’m grateful to have @AFPAction's support as we take our campaign to all 67 counties in Florida," Donalds wrote in a social media post. "This campaign is about making sure every voter who wants lower costs, more opportunity, and accountable government has their voice heard. As Governor, I will advance policies that promote economic freedom, protect individual liberty, and hold government accountable to the people it serves."
AFP Action's endorsement of Rep. Donalds follows several others, including the Associated Industries of Florida, Club for Growth PAC, and Turning Point Action.
Several Florida State senators have also endorsed Rep. Donalds, as well as a large contingent of the Florida House of Representatives. President Donald Trump endorsed Donalds for governor last year.
Donalds is in a Republican primary with Lt. Gov. Jay Collins, former Florida House Speaker Paul Renner, and businessman James Fishback. According to polling, Donalds is ahead in the GOP primary, and a favorite over Democratic opponents David Jolly and Jerry Demings in the general election.
