President Donald Trump delivered his State of the Union address Tuesday night to glowing approval from Republican lawmakers, including Representatives Aaron Bean (R-FL), John Rutherford (R-FL), Laurel Lee (R-FL), and Vern Buchanan (R-FL).
Rep. Bean said in a statement, "One year ago, President Trump returned to office with a plan to restore prosperity, secure our borders, and put the American people first. Tonight, he highlighted the results we've achieved: a booming economy, rising wages, falling poverty, declining crime, and surging American confidence."
"Together, Congress passed, and the President signed into law, the largest tax cut in U.S. history. And we're just getting started," Rep. Bean continued, "I look forward to delivering more real results for Northeast Floridians as we keep investing in America."
Similarly, Rep. Rutherford said, "Over the last year of his presidency, President Trump has done more to renew the American Dream than any other president by bolstering our economy, stopping the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs over our borders, restoring American strength on the global stage, brokering peace around the world, bringing manufacturing home, and putting America First."
Rep. Rutherford highlighted the mass exodus of nearly 3 million illegal aliens through deportation and voluntary departure, the tax cuts passed through the Working Families Tax Cut, the numerous peace deals President Trump negotiated between various countries, the arrest of Nicolas Maduro, and the restoration of the military.
"If that's what the Trump administration can accomplish in one year, imagine what can be done in three more," Rutherford beamed, " I can't wait to continue to work with President Trump to deliver even more wins for the American people. God bless President Trump and our country."
Rep. Lee's response focused on bringing the Trump administration's progress closer to home, saying, "President Trump laid out a forward-looking vision to continue strengthening our economy and expanding opportunity for American families. While we have made meaningful progress, there is more work to do to ensure growth reaches every household and that the momentum continues."
As a result, Rep. Lee pledged to maintain that momentum in the form of "lowering costs, supporting small businesses, unleashing American energy, securing our border, and restoring fiscal responsibility in Washington," adding, "When we prioritize pro-growth policies, protect our freedoms, and keep public safety at the forefront, we create an environment where hardworking families can thrive."
Finally, Rep. Buchanan said, "Tonight, President Trump made one thing clear: the American Dream is alive and making a comeback."
"As we approach our nation's 250th anniversary, the state of the union is strong and getting stronger because we are putting working families first," Rep. Buchanan added.
Moreover, Buchanan highlighted the tax cuts and healthcare reform, saying, "We are lowering health care costs by investing in rural communities and advancing a prevention-focused approach that empowers Americans to be the CEOs of their own health."
"Promises made, promises kept. The American Dream is real, and the best is still ahead," Buchanan concluded.
