Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) Chairman Evan Power has locked the endorsement of Attorney General James Uthmeier to complement the growing number of congressional endorsements for his congressional campaign in Florida's 2nd District.

"Evan Power is a proven grassroots leader who helped build the strongest conservative movement in the country. I’m proud to endorse him for Congress and confident he’ll stand by President Trump to keep fighting for Florida’s values in Washington," stated AG Uthmeier on social media.

Power is looking to replace retiring Rep. Neal Dunn (R), who recently announced that he was retiring from the House of Representatives after the 2026 midterm elections.

The district is a very "safe Republican" seat, not to mention very family-oriented and conservative, so the winner of the Republican primary election will most likely be the next congressman from Florida.

As we mentioned, there is a primary election that will take place in August, so Power must first contend with the primary challenge he faces from former Democrat and senatorial candidate Kevin Gross, who also recently announced his candidacy.

“This is my home seat, and I am running to represent the community that raised me, shaped my values, and gave me the opportunity to live the American Dream,” Gross, whose law firm is based in Panama City Beach, said. “I know this district, I love this district, and I am ready to fight for it every single day."

Gross, a successful business owner, recently filed a FEC complaint against Power, questioning the RPOF chairman's potential use and spending of the political party's resources to benefit his congressional campaign.

Raising campaign cash is not an issue for Gross, but it is for Power. Power is actively "dialing for dollars," while Gross could drop as much as $5,000,000 into his campaign.

This is the same Keith Gross who ran and lost against Sen. Rick Scott in 2024, and was removed from the Georgia ballot in 2008 for alleged "inconsistencies over his eligibility to run for a statehouse seat."

Power resides in Tallahassee with his wife and two small children. Gross lives in Panama City with his husband and two small dogs.
