MIAMI—During a joint press conference in Miami to address the Trump administration's arrest of Venezuelan Dictator Nicholas Maduro, Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart (R) did not hold back against a local reporter, who accused the congressman and his colleagues, Reps. Carlos Gimenez and Maria Elvira Salazar, for refusing to support Maria Corina Machado to be the next President of Venezuela.

"Do not put words in my mouth. I will not tolerate putting words in my mouth or my colleague's mouth," proclaimed Rep. Diaz-Balart in response to the local reporter.

Rep. Diaz-Balart pointed out that he has always supported Machado, adding that he believed that when the governmental transition occurs in Venezuela as a result of new elections, the "next Democratic-elected president of Venezuela is going to be Maria Corina Machado

"We are supporting her, and we are supporting everything the opposition forces and the civil society decide to do," said Rep. Salazar.

Earlier in the day, President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a press conference at Mar-a-Lago to announce that Maduro was arrested during Operation Midnight Hammer.
