Since President Donald Trump returned to the White House, Republicans have focused on addressing "waste, fraud, and abuse" in the government. Given the recent controversies surrounding the issue, Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) suggests that Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is the face of the problem.
"There's waste, fraud, and abuse in Congress, and her name is Jasmine Crockett," Rep. Fine commented during an interview on Newsmax. "The amount of stupid there is truly extraordinary."
Responding to recent comments from the Texas Democrat, who launched her campaign to unseat Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) earlier this month, Rep. Fine pointed to the controversy in Minnesota surrounding $9 billion dollars and the state's child care assistance programs. He also noted that in California over $70 billion was allegedly lost or misspent under Governor Gavin Newsom.
"waste, fraud, and abuse in endemic in Washington," Rep. Fine argues.
Minnesota and Governor Tim Walz have dominated the headlines in recent weeks after federal investigators shared that Minnesota had received $18 billion in federal funds since 2018 for child care assistance programs. However, the concern is that up to half of those funds is alleged to have been possibly stolen through fraudulent schemes.
Over the weekend, FBI Director Kash Patel announced that the FBI is investigating the issue, adding that the agency has ramped up personnel and resources to further investigate the matter. So far, there have been 78 indictments and 57 convictions.
