Numbers USA Gives Florida a 'C' Grade on Immigration Reform

NumbersUSA is an advocacy group dedicated to reforming and reducing immigration in the United States. Part of their advocacy is in ranking congressional lawmakers by their commitment to immigration reform, and they recently awarded Florida an overall grade of "C."

As NumbersUSA explains, "Immigration policy in any country will inevitably benefit some groups more than others. In a government 'of the people, by the people, for the people,' a responsible approach to reform takes the concerns of all stakeholders into account and then prioritizes based on the needs of the national community."

Additionally, they posit that unfettered immigration into the United States does more harm than good, not only to the existing population (especially racial minorities), but to recent immigrants in lower-wage jobs as well.

While Florida, under Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL), has pursued immigration reform at the state level and sought more rigorous border enforcement, the Sunshine State's "C" grade from Numbers USA is based on the immigration policies pursued by its representatives in Congress.

Like other advocacy groups, Numbers USA ranks individual members of Congress and Senators by their alignment with the group's agenda, based on legislation they have introduced or cosponsored.

Only two members of Congress have received an "A+" grade from Numbers USA: Representatives Randy Fine (R-FL) and Byron Donalds (R-FL).

Lawmakers who received a "B+" grade are Representatives Daniel Webster (R-FL) and Mike Haridopolos (R-FL).

Most Florida Republicans fall in the "B" to "D" range, while all Democrats, save for Representative Jared Moskowitz (D-FL), who earned a "D," received an "F-" grade.
