Representative Brian Mast (R-FL) discussed the recent controversy surrounding President Donald Trump's drone strikes on cartel smuggling boats in a recent appearance on Fox News's Life, Liberty, and Levin, saying the President and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth were within their authority to conduct the strikes.

Rep. Mast described how he visited the United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) in Miami over the Thanksgiving holiday, and that "any member of the House of Representatives, if they want to go travel down to Florida and go to SOUTHCOM and get a brief about the operations going on there, directly from SOUTHCOM, they could have that take place. There are a myriad of options for members of the House to go out there and get information."

Additionally, Rep. Mast reiterated that President Trump was within his Article II authorities "to go out there and protect the homeland of the United States of America from this very imminent threat— Not just imminent, I would not just call it an imminent threat— this has been a pervasive threat going on year after year, decade after decade, and the President finally said he has had enough."

After all, the Florida Congressman emphasized that "there is no better use for our carrier battle group than directly protecting our people from this imminent, proven, and pervasive threat."

Mast noted Levin's observation that Democratic and media opposition to the strikes is a boon to America's adversaries, saying, "That could not be worse for our servicemembers." He referred to the recent video featuring several Senators calling upon the military to disobey "illegal orders," which has since been called the "Seditious Six" video.

"They were trying to create revolts within the United States Armed Forces; in this place where, again, the work is dangerous and deadly," Mast commented. "They wanted revolt in there because of their politics."
