Representative Greg Steube (R-FL) praised President Donald Trump's address to the United Nations General Assembly in a recent appearance on Fox Business's Evening Edit, saying, "the UN has not been here for America for decades."
Steube reiterated his support for potentially withdrawing from the organization altogether, noting that President Trump has not been commended once for negotiating seven peace deals worldwide since assuming office in January.
"All they do is profligate different far-left, progressive ideology in the world," Rep. Steube argued, adding, "whether it be environmental ideology or far-left transgender ideology throughout the world. So [Trump] was right on. I loved how strong and powerful his speech is, and we need to have serious consideration as to why the United States puts billions and billions of dollars in an institution that does not put America's interests first."
Host Elizabeth MacDonald asked Rep. Steube if he hoped world leaders appreciated Trump's words, and Steube agreed. "I hope they do, because a lot of the money that comes from these projects comes from the United States through different programs that we have had in history," he commented.
"Thankfully, [Trump] has done away with USAID, they are cutting a lot of these programs," the Florida Congressman said. "So they are going to see very quickly that the United States is not interested in funding a lot of these programs because they are not beneficial to America and they are not beneficial to the world."
Steube further commended Trump calling out open border policies. "We have seen all across the world: Countries with open borders have had huge issues with crime, rapes, terrorism," the Florida Republican warned. "We have seen it here. We have seen the change of President Trump's agenda bringing sanity back to our borders and criminals out of our country, and the difference it has made in our country."
