Florida Congressman Greg Steube (R) called the Biden administration’s “Green New Deal” (GND) a scam, citing that it has “wasted taxpayer dollars.”

Steube unloaded on the environmental effort on social media, asserting that “there is no bigger scam in history." "Biden burned hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars on left-wing pet projects. All we got were higher energy costs and more debt," he added, praising President Trump for leading efforts against it.

Rep. Steube’s comment comes in response to President Donald Trump’s warning to other nations that investing in large-scale green energy projects will lead to financial calamity.

“I'm telling you that if you don't get away from the 'green energy' scam, your country is going to FAIL. If you don't stop people that you've never seen before that you have nothing in common with, your country is going to FAIL," President Trump said during his United Nations speech this week.

The GND is a proposed framework for a complete economic and environmental overhaul that aims to address climate change and economic inequality simultaneously.

It calls for the design, construction, and implementation of large-scale renewable energy infrastructures, in a bid to create new jobs, improve social services, and transition away from fossil fuels as a source of energy.

Many criticize the GND as being “too vague” and outside the realm of financial realism, as the required funds to put into action what the deal calls for are unfeasible.

According to the Stanford Report, “the upfront capital cost of a 100 percent wind-water-solar electric power generation system is about $9.5 trillion.”

Other Florida lawmakers like Senator Ashley Moody (R) have spoken against the GND, calling it “short-sighted” as the infrastructure and the economy could not handle the drastic cost of implementing the deal.

“The EPA continues to push radical Green New Deal policies at a time when the infrastructure is not in place and Americans are struggling economically due to Biden-created inflation,” she warned.
