Congressman Aaron Bean (R-FL) is getting behind fellow U.S. Rep. and Florida gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds for governor. Rep. Bean is the latest in a long line of congressional support for the prospective Donalds, which includes House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA).
"Thank you @AaronPBean for your support!" Donalds said. "From the Florida Legislature to Congress, it’s been an honor to fight alongside you, & I’ll take that same fight back to Tallahassee. Through bold, conservative leadership, we will take Florida to NEW HEIGHTS."
Other Florida congressional leaders supporting Donalds include Kat Cammack, John Rutherford, Randy Fine, Cory Mills, Daniel Webster, Laurel Lee, Vern Buchanan, Scott Franklin, Brian Mast, Mario Díaz-Balart, and María Elvira Salazar.
Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott also endorsed Donalds earlier this month. Sen. Scott was Florida's governor from 2011 to 2019 before passing the mantle to Gov. Ron DeSantis.
Notably, DeSantis has yet to make an endorsement in the governor's race, despite overwhelming support from Florida's Republican coalition. The Floridian has reported that the governor and Donalds might not be on great terms, possibly stonewalling DeSantis' backing.
Regardless, Donalds' most coveted endorsement likely came from President Donald Trump in February, who called the congressman a "BIG" voice in advancing his America First Agenda in a Truth Social post.
“(Donalds) will fight tirelessly to Secure our Border, Stop Migrant Crime, Strengthen our Military, Protect our Vets, Restore our Economic Power, Advance American Energy DOMINANCE, and Defend our always under siege Second Amendment,” Trump said.
The president and Donalds have long been close, with the congressman appearing alongside him on the 2024 campaign trail and lobbying in support of his agenda in Congress.
Trump won Florida over Vice President Kamala Harris by 13 points in the presidential race, likely giving Donalds a leg up on his competition for the gubernatorial election next November.
