The House passed Florida Congressman Brian Mast's (R) “Transitioning Retiring And New Service Members to Port, Ocean, Rail, and Truck (TRANSPORT) Jobs Act” in a bid to boost the U.S. economy while supplying veterans with careers after retirement.
“The TRANSPORT Jobs Act works for two reasons: it connects veterans with careers in trucking, rail, shipping, and logistics, and it helps to expand America’s supply chain,” Rep. Mast said in a statement. “There are few Americans better trained and more disciplined than the men and women who wear our nation’s uniform."
Noting that "far too often, veterans return home only to face obstacles in finding employment," he assured that the Department of Transportation will now "identify and address the barriers that prevent veterans from being hired and make the necessary recommendations to eliminate them. The result: more veterans in good-paying jobs, and a supply chain that keeps America moving.”
Mast claims that this will be a “win-win” for America as he attempts to address two issues with one bill.
In addition to the TRANSPORT Act, the Florida congressman, a veteran himself, has been very vocal about supplying aid, resources, and recognition to fellow veterans.
In the National Defense Authorization Act of 2026, Mast was able to include four amendments to the act, one of which was the “SEAL Act,” which designates the Navy SEAL Memorial in Fort Pierce, Florida, as a national memorial.
Speaking further on the amendment, Mast explained that “this amendment designates the Navy Seal Memorial in Fort Pierce, Florida, as the national memorial for honoring the grounds and legacy of Navy special warfare.” "We've been working for a long time to ensure this great tribute to Navy Seals, and that they get the recognition, and this location gets the recognition that it deserves. And I'm excited to say that we are one step closer to making that a reality," he added.
