Senator Ashley Moody (R-FL) condemned Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer's (D-NY) refusal to agree to the House's continuing resolution (CR) ahead of an expected government shutdown.

During a recent appearance on Fox News's Faulkner Focus, Sen. Moody affirmed that Schumer "has abandoned what he knows is true."

Host Harris Faulkner began by noting that President Donald Trump's recent meeting with Sen. Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) ended without a deal being reached on avoiding the shutdown, which was likely the result of political pressure on Schumer's part.

"It is clear that he has abandoned what he knows is true, that a shutdown is destructive for the country, and he is willing to set aside the interests of the American people and the services this government provides for them, the taxpayers, and try and hose them for an additional $1.4 trillion for more woke politics," Sen. Moody responded.

Additionally, Sen. Moody suggested that Republicans are "working so hard to root out the waste, to make sure that we are mission-focused on American sovereignty and American interests, and [Democrats] just cannot seem to let go of the fact that we do not need to be spending billions and millions of dollars for climate resilience in Honduras."

The Florida Senator reiterated that the House's continuing resolution is "clean" and will "keep the government open if the Democrats agree to just keep it open for seven more weeks while we work towards working out our appropriations bills."

"It is as simple as that, the Democrats will have a choice today," Moody concluded. "Do they vote on the side of Americans and this country, or do they vote to further help illegal immigrants woke programs? It is a clear binary choice, and I hope they make the right one."

The Senator is among multiple Republicans who have condemned Democrats' refusal to cooperate on keeping the government open.
