Florida Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick (D) appeared in an MSNBC interview to discuss the long-term effects and potential future of President Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

“This Big Ugly Bill won’t be remembered for what it builds, but for what it destroys. It forces families to reverify every six months, with no new funding to manage the burden. The result? Delays. Denials. Devastation,” she said. “Some parts may sound good, but they quietly expire in 2028. The harm? Permanent. If we truly want to make life better for our constituents, we need real, bipartisan solutions—not cuts disguised as reform.”

Rep. McCormick warned that over 12 million Americans would lose coverage under the current plan and urged lawmakers to include safeguards when implementing policy changes to prevent widespread harm.

She urged bipartisan cooperation and criticized lawmakers for rejecting all 156 Democratic amendments to the bill.

“We know how to do this correctly. Let's do it correctly and let's do it bipartisan," she said. "They did not take over 156 amendments. They took none of our amendments, which could have helped us reconcile this bill, so there could have been bipartisan support."

McCormick finished the interview by promoting her “100 Stops Tour,” which aims to educate and help constituents understand the new law.

“Well, that's where we're continuing with this 100 Stops Tour, where we're making 100 stops throughout South Florida to continue the education, but also to continue hearing from our constituents—what they're seeing, what's going on,” she said. "We're not seeing the number of hearings that are necessary right now for our constituents to have faith in the bill, to have faith in how it's going to be implemented. We're here to protect our constituents, hear from them, and work together."
