The U.S. Army announced on Tuesday that it has reached its fiscal year 2025 recruiting goals for active duty, securing contracts with more than 61,000 future soldiers four months ahead of schedule.

“I’m incredibly proud of our U.S. Army recruiters and drill sergeants,” Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll said. “Their colossal efforts and dedication to duty helped the U.S. Army accomplish our FY25 annual recruiting goal a full four months ahead of schedule.”

The Army attributed the achievement to "a renewed sense of patriotism and purpose of America's youth."

Specifically, the 2025 target of 61,000 recruits was more than 10% higher than the 55,000 recruits pursued in fiscal year 2024. In part, the Army credited the figure with "a surge in interest and enthusiasm" for military service.

Moreover, the Army stated that average daily contracts exceeded last year's levels by 56% during the same period.

In recognition, the Army said that the 61,000 men and women represent the "best of America," noting the future soldiers will carry on a "legacy of honor, courage, and service" as the Army celebrates its 250th birthday on June 14.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth began the year by promoting the Army's recruiting comeback. Hegseth, in charge of 3.5 million service members and civilians, emphasized wanting to bring back the "warrior culture" to the Army upon becoming Defense Secretary.

“I want to thank the commander in chief, President Trump, and Secretary of Defense Hegseth for their decisive leadership and support in equipping, training and supporting these future Soldiers as they face a world of global uncertainty and complex threats,” Driscoll added. “Putting Soldiers first is having a tangible impact and shows that young people across our country want to be part of the most lethal land fighting force the world has ever seen.”
