On June 13, 2025, Israel launched operation “Rising Lion” as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said "Israel targeted Iran’s main enrichment facility in Natanz and the country’s ballistic missile program, as well as top nuclear scientists and officials."
Iranian state television reported that Israel's attack has killed the head of Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, Gen. Hossein Salami. The report also said the strike may have killed another top Guard official and two nuclear scientists.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the United States played no role in the operation.
“Tonight, Israel took unilateral action against Iran. We are not involved in strikes against Iran and our top priority is protecting American forces in the region.” he said.
“President Trump and the Administration have taken all necessary steps to protect our forces and remain in close contact with our regional partners. Let me be clear: Iran should not target U.S. interests or personnel.”
In response to the attacks on Iran, the majority of Florida's House Representatives have released statements supporting Tel Aviv’s actions.
“Israel has every right to defend itself against the threat posed by Iran’s nuclear ambitions. I fully support the democratic Jewish State of Israel as it takes decisive action to protect its people & its sovereignty.” U.S. Rep. Carlos Gimenez (R-FL) said.
“The U.S. will always stand firmly with Israel.”
U.S. Rep. Jared Moskowitz, (D-FL), emphasized the importance of containing Iran’s nuclear program to ensure the safety of both Israel and U.S. regional interests.
“A regime that promises death to America and Israel can never be allowed to achieve nuclear capabilities. I support Israel’s right to defend itself from a nuclear Iran—an unacceptable end that would put Israel and our other allies in constant danger and undermine world stability.” Moskowitz wrote.
“May the God of Abraham protect the State of Israel.” Maria Elvira Salazar, (R-FL), stated.
“I stand with Israel and I’m praying for its strength and safety.”
