Floridians deserve leaders who understand that their government should work for them, not the other way around. Since taking office as our newest U.S. Senator earlier this year, Senator Ashley Moody has proven to be exactly that kind of leader — someone ready to tackle Washington’s bloated bureaucracy, demand accountability, and deliver reforms that put power back where it belongs: with the people she serves.
For too long, Washington’s maze of unnecessary rules and unchecked agencies has made life more expensive and complicated for everyday Floridians. Unelected regulators churn out thousands of pages of mandates every year, affecting everything from how businesses operate to how much families pay at the pump and the grocery store — all without approval from Congress.
Since she was sworn in this January, Senator Moody has wasted no time getting to work. She’s partnering with other reform-minded senators to increase transparency and ensure that federal agencies answer to the people. I worked closely with her when she served as Florida’s Attorney General and have had the chance to meet with her twice since she took office; each time, I have left even more confident that Floridians have a true advocate for them in Washington.
One clear example is her support for passing a reconciliation bill through the Senate that would make the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act — also known as the Trump Tax Cuts — permanent. She wants to ensure that this package reduces the deficit and reins in Washington’s out-of-control spending. She also wants it to cut red tape so individuals and businesses can thrive.
Senator Moody understands that government overreach stifles opportunity and drives up costs for everyone. That’s why she’s also backing reforms that require agencies to regularly review and eliminate outdated or duplicative rules and to be upfront about the economic impact of new regulations.
Her commitment to taking on these challenges in just her first few months in office shows exactly the kind of leadership Floridians expect and deserve. She’s quickly earning the respect of her colleagues and constituents by focusing on real solutions instead of empty promises.
At Americans for Prosperity-Florida, we’re proud to stand with Senator Moody as she champions greater freedom and a more accountable government. But she can’t do it alone. Now is the time for the Senate to build on the House’s work and pass the “Big, Beautiful Bill,” which achieves the critical reforms that she is pushing for and that could become law and help all Americans, including hardworking Floridians.
We should all be proud to have a senator so dedicated to protecting our freedom and creating opportunities for everyone. With Senator Moody’s principled leadership, Florida’s future looks stronger than ever.
