Florida Republicans rallied in support on Wednesday of President Donald Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill," calling it the largest tax cut for working and middle-class families in history." In part, they emphasized that the bill ends handouts to illegal immigrants while putting money back into American workers.
"Our country has a chance to put communities across America on a path to prosperity by backing President Trump and his fight to pass the Big Beautiful Bill and deliver permanent tax cuts, stronger border, cuts to wasteful spending, and a thriving economy," Rep. Mike Redondo (R-Miami) said.
According to a release, the bill includes a 15% cut for earners between $30,000 and $80,000, no federal taxes on tips or overtime, an increased $2500 Child Tax Credit, and expanded Health Savings Accounts. It also aims to protect the double standard deduction, eliminate taxes on car loan interest for American-made vehicles, and provide relief for seniors and family farms.
"The One Big Beautiful Bill is America First policy," Rep. Judson Sapp (R-Green Cove Springs) said. $1.6T in savings. No taxes on tips or overtime. Medicaid protected. Wall finished. ICE backed. Second Amendment rights expanded. Accounts for every child. Real leadership. Real results."
The release added that the bill "raises the bar for economic policy, public safety, and responsible governance."
"While families in Florida struggle with sky-high insurance and housing costs, illegal immigrants are getting tax credits and sending billions overseas? No more," Rep. Yvette Benarroch (R-Marco Island) said. "This Big, Beautiful Bill is long overdue."
Other lawmakers expressed urgency for its passage.
"Florida needs to back President Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill NOW. We're not going to pay for LA's lawless sanctuary collapse," Rep. Danny Nix (R-Placida) said.
Rep. Jennifer Kincart Jonsson (R-Lakeland) called its passage "a critical moment for our country."
"Let's stand with President Trump and get the Big Beautiful Bill across the finish line," Rep. Jonsson said. "It means permanent tax relief for hardworking families, a more secure border, less wasteful spending, and a stronger economy."
Similar to Nix, Rep. Meg Weinberger (R-Palm Beach Gardens) characterized the bill as an important step in protecting law enforcement, as opposed to the LA riots in California.
"In Florida, we back the blue. In California, they back the rioters," Weinberger said. "Trump's One Big Beautiful Bill ends the insanity. Let's Lead"
