WASHINGTON—Days after filing legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives to designate The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as a terrorist organization, Florida Rep. Randy Fine (R) referred to CAIR as “Terrorist front for Hamas” that portrays themselves to be the “NAACP of Muslim People.”
“I think CAIR in particular because they are as insidious as it gets because CAIR masquerades as basically the NAACP for Muslim people, but what they are is they're a terrorist front for Hamas, and the research on this is goes over and over and over again,” said Rep. Fine in an interview with The Floridian.
Rep. Fine, who is also known as “The Hebrew Hammer,” stated that after the October 7th terrorist attack in Israel that left 1,200 Israelis dead, the current director of CAIR gave a speech declaring “the joy he felt on October 7th.”
On October 7th, 2023, CAIR Florida sent out a press release announcing that they stood "firmly in support of the Palestinian people and their fundamental right to be free from the Israeli occupation." and calling out an end to the "atrocities" committed by Israel, yet could not bring itself to denounce the heinous Hamas terror attack.

Fine, who supports Senator Ted Cruz and Rep. Mario Diaz-Balart’s legislation to designate the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization, continued, reiterated his claim that CAIR was a terrorist front group.
“I mean this is a terrorist front a terrorist organization that supports, and in some cases it's funded Muslim terror and so I think we need to designate as such, because they're insidious because they they leverage this fake brand that we are the NA ACP for Muslims in this country so people take them seriously,” Fine added.
During his service in the Florida House of Representatives, then-Rep. Fine filed and help pass legislation designating CAIR a terrorist organization.
The bill prohibited local governments in Florida to work with CAIR.
