Governor Ron DeSantis announced a string of initiatives on Wednesday to strengthen the state's international travel and aerospace footprint during a Florida Business Seminar mission in Paris, France. The initiatives included a new nonstop, year-round Air France flight between Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG).

“Florida’s freedom-first policies, strong economy, and commitment to remaining open for business have made our state one of the most attractive destinations in the world,” DeSantis said. The return of direct flights between Orlando and Paris not only reflects strong demand from travelers but also creates new economic opportunities and strengthens Florida’s international ties.”

According to the release, the Air France service was made possible by the State of Florida, Experience Kissimmee, Visit Orlando, and Orlando International Airport. The announcement is good news for Florida travelers, as Orlando–Paris was the biggest unserved U.S.–Europe market, with nearly 80,000 annual people flying between both cities without nonstop flights.

European travelers visiting the Sunshine State will also have an easier time coming to Orlando's Walt Disney World or local convention centers, as well as its area businesses and technology hubs. Moreover, Florida's flagship beaches are not too far away.

Overall, the release indicated that the project will create $54 million in annual economic impact for Central Florida. The announcement also comes after Florida welcomed 9 million overseas visitors in 2024.

Also, while in France, DeSantis announced an investment in Florida's aerospace market with French aircraft manufacturer AURA AERO. The company said it plans to open a U.S. facility at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s Research Park in Daytona Beach.

Helped by a $3.4 million investment from Space Florida, the 10,000-foot facility will be used as a U.S. delivery and support center for AURA AERO’s INTEGRAL R trainer aircraft. In addition, the facility will also support upcoming flight testing for its all-electric INTEGRAL E model.

The company also announced a "second-phase" construction of a 500,000 square foot facility in Daytona Beach. That location is expected to produce AURA AERO's next-generation 19-seat hybrid-electric aircraft, ERA, and generate more than 1,000 jobs.
